Garden show opens Nov. 20

MANILA, Philippines—The Cactus and Succulent Society, with the management of Quezon Memorial Circle, will present a flower and garden show with the theme “Gardening for a Better Environment,” back-to-back with a Christmas bazaar from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., on Nov. 20-30 at Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.

The exhibits are divided into four areas—cacti and succulent landscape and dish gardens ornamental landscapes, table judging display and commercial sections. There will also be lecture-demonstrations and a raffle after the daily lectures.

With Kevin Belmonte as overall show chair and club president Dorie Bernabe as cochair, the working committees are headed by the following: Mely Sibayan and Linda Kitre, invitation and awards; Becky Buenaventura, secretariat and opening program; Boyet Ganiogan and Rap Eugenio, physical arrangement and exhibits; Petter Bangayan and Mett Metilla, educational lectures; Letty Ligon and Lina Kitre, ways and means; Elisa Montecastro and Mett Metilla, souvenir program; Tess Baldonado, commercial; Kevin Belmonte and Mett Metilla, publicity; Nanding Aguirre and Kevin Belmonte, judging and plant registration; Jeff Patiag and Nolie Perez, security; Aireen Bernal and Judy Udquin, cleanliness; Peter Bangayan and Joey Castro, photo and documentation; Mameng Florento and Vangie Cheng, reception; and Norma Villanueva with Cathy King, raffle and marketing.

The exhibits will be formally opened by Quezon City Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista and Joy Belmonte at 4 p.m. on Nov. 20.
