MANILA, Philippines--Charges were filed Wednesday against a man who allegedly pointed a gun at ABS-CBN newscaster Cheryl Cosim and her companions during a traffic altercation in Quezon City on Monday.

Supt. Lino Banaag, head of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said Richard C. Ordoñez, 50, a resident of Road 10 in Project 6, Quezon City, was charged with grave threats and illegal possession of firearms before the city prosecutor’s office.

Banaag added that based on the records of the Firearms and Explosives Division (FED) of the Philippine National Police, Ordoñez owned seven firearms.

The licenses for his guns, however, expired in 2007.

Philippine National Police Director General Jesus Verzosa, meanwhile, ordered the revocation of all gun licenses issued to Ordoñez and the confiscation of all of his firearms.

In a complaint she filed with the police, Cosim said that she was on her way home on Monday afternoon when her Mitsubishi Outlander was nearly sideswiped by a black Nissan Cefiro (plate number XPY 497) on Congressional Avenue.

Cosim said the driver of the car then got out and pointed a gun at her and companions as he motioned for them to get out of their vehicle.

When they refused to budge, the man got back into his car and drove away.

Ordoñez was later identified when the police asked the Land Transportation Office to check the plate number provided to them by Cosim.

Cosim also positively identified Ordoñez through the photograph on his driver’s license.

Chief Insp. Benjamin Elenzano, CIDU deputy head, said they went to the address listed on Ordoñez’s LTO records but he was not at home. With Marlon Ramos
