MANILA, Philippines--A television personality has filed a complaint against a man who allegedly pointed a gun at her and her companions after he nearly sideswiped her sport utility vehicle in Quezon City on Monday afternoon.
In a report she filed with the Quezon City Police District?s (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, ABS-CBN newscaster and host Cheryl Cosim described the driver of the black Nissan Cefiro with plate number XPY 497 as between 40 and 45 years old.
?We?re looking at a traffic altercation here because the driver almost sideswiped Cosim?s vehicle while they were both cruising on Congressional Avenue,? case investigator PO2 Loreto Tigno said yesterday.
Cosim, 35, a resident of 10 Windgate Villas on Visayas Avenue, said she was on her way home with four companions, including her driver, when the black Cefiro nearly sideswiped her Mitsubishi Outlander at around 4:30 p.m. Monday.
When the car reached the corner of Congressional and Visayas Avenues, it stopped and the driver got out of the vehicle, she added.
Cosim told the police that the man blocked the path of her van and pointed a gun at them.
?They (Cosim and her companions) were unable to hear what the man was saying, only that his gun was pointed at them and that he was apparently telling them to get [out of their vehicle],? Tigno said.
When she and the others refused to alight from their vehicle, Cosim said the driver, who was wearing a white shirt and a pair of black pants, later got into his car and sped off.
Chief Insp. Benjamin Elenzano Jr., QCPD homicide section head, said a check with the Land Transportation Office showed that the Cefiro was owned by a certain Richard who lived in Project 6, Quezon City.
He added that his men had already shown Cosim a photograph of Richard and that she had positively identified him as the one who nearly sideswiped her van.
Elenzano said he would send a police team to the man?s house to question him.
He added that they would also check if Richard owned a gun and whether it was covered by a permit.
According to Elenzano, if Cosim?s allegations against Richard are proven to be true, they would recommend that his firearms license and permit to carry be revoked.
Should the gun turn out to be unlicensed, he said they would file a charge of illegal possession of firearms against him, he added.
This was on top of the grave threat charges the police were preparing against him, Elenzano said.
