MANILA, Philippines--A father and his son, along with two men visiting the pair in their Quezon City home, were shot by heavily armed men Thursday morning.
Rodolfo Abrogar, his son Michael, Jun Eder and a man only identified as ?Jun? were found dead inside 935 San Pascual Street in Barangay Commonwealth by neighbors.
Police said around two to five men with shotguns and M-16 rifles carried out the attack at around 10 a.m. while the victims were chatting inside the living room.
Chief Insp. Benjamin Elenzano Jr. of the Quezon City Police District?s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said two men fired at the four men from the open door of the house, based on the recollection of Marvic Blasé, the older Abrogar?s daughter.
Fearful for her life, she sent her children upstairs while she ducked for cover.
?They didn?t say anything before firing and just began shooting. After that, I heard them say ?Clear!? three times before they fled,? Blasé said.
PO2 Jaime Jimena and PO2 Rodel Tumangday, case investigators, said neighbors recalled seeing around five armed men, although Blasé said she saw only two men.
Blasé said her father and brother visited her Thursday morning to get cans of white paint to spruce up the tombs of their dead in time for All Souls? Day on Nov 2.
?I was about to give them the paint when I heard the shots,? Blasé said, adding that her three children scrambled to safety on the second floor.
Blasé?s husband, Jaymarie, was also talking with the victims inside the living room when the armed men began their attack.
Jaymarie was able to hide inside the toilet, but let himself out later after the assailants left, she said. Blasé added that like her father and brother, her husband also had no known enemies.
Elenzano said the assailants even hurled a grenade inside the house, which fortunately did not explode as the pin was not dislodged from the explosive device.
?We have not come up with any motive for the killings,? the police official said. ?The neighbors are afraid to talk and the Abrogars, who were vendors in Mandaluyong City, allegedly didn?t have any enemies.?
Elenzano, however, noted that Michael was allegedly involved in several snatching incidents in Mandaluyong two years ago, but added that this had no bearing on the killings so far.
