MANILA, Philippines--Edith Panaligan-Lagarile, a resident of Pasay City, is in need of financial assistance.

Lagarile, 56, used to be a news writer. She also contributed feature stories to several newspapers, including the Inquirer. Last year, she suffered a stroke that paralyzed the left side of her body.
