MANILA, Philippines ? The Quezon City Prosecutors Office has junked a grave slander complaint filed by talent manager Annabelle Rama against GMA 7 Network executive Wilma Galvante.
In a five-page resolution dated July 24, assistant city prosecutor Ronaldo Torralba said there was no probable cause against Galvante as her statements during a talk with one of Rama?s wards was not insulting or derogatory.
The grave slander complaint stemmed from an earlier tiff between Galvante and Rama over the issue of the contract of Rama?s ward, JC de Vera.
Galvante, GMA 7?s vice president for entertainment, has previously filed a P7 million civil complaint for damages and a petition for injunction against Rama before a Quezon City court.
In her complaint, Rama alleged that Galvante said derogatory things about her during Galvante?s conversation with actor JC de Vera inside Galvante?s office on February 16, 2009.
Rama claimed that Galvante insulted her when the TV executive gave De Vera the impression that ?she was incompetent as a manager.?
In her defense, Galvante said Rama?s complaint was unfounded and baseless.
In his resolution, Torralba noted that Galvante?s statements to De Vera, when taken in their entire context, has ?nothing derogatory that would tend to undermine the competence of the complainant in the eyes of her talent.?
