MANILA, Philippines -- Police have arrested two suspected members of a car robbery syndicate operating in Luzon and recovered two stolen vehicles from a warehouse in Bulacan, a police official said.
Chief Inspector Dario Anasco, chief of the Quezon City Police District Anti-Carnapping Unit, identified Thursday those arrested as Mac Reyes, 50, and Reno Javier, 29, both residents of Balagtas, Bulacan.
Anasco said the two were members of the Madrigal car theft syndicate which the police had been trying to bust for months.
“We are now conducting follow-up operations against the group in Metro Manila, particularly in Quezon City,” he said.
During the operation conducted on Wednesday, Anasco said they were able to recover two stolen Isuzu Sportivo vans.
He said both vehicles were stolen in Quezon City on Sunday. One of them was stolen while parked along Lantana Street, Barangay (village) New Manila, while the other was stolen along Congressional Avenue.
He added that the suspects were also auto mechanics and have sufficient knowledge about cars.
