A KIDNAP victim shot one of his kidnappers dead while he was negotiating ransom with his abductors.
But what do you know? A government prosecutor in Baguio City filed a homicide case against the erstwhile kidnap victim.
Here’s the story:
Mark Luis Trinidad advertised his car for sale.
One of those who answered the advertisement asked to test-drive the car. He was Police Officer 3 Adamson Atinyao Jr. of the Cordillera Region Highway Patrol Group.
Accompanying Atinyao on a test drive, Trinidad was asked by the cop and his companions at gunpoint to call his wife.
It was a kidnapping. Atinyao and his companions demanded a P1-million ransom for Trinidad’s release.
After a lengthy negotiation over the cellular phone, Trinidad’s wife Amparo agreed to a P300,000 ransom.
She went to the place where her husband was being held and handed the ransom money.
While the kidnappers were not looking, Amparo handed Mark a .40 caliber Glock pistol.
Sensing that his kidnappers would kill both him and his wife even after they had paid ransom, Mark shot Atinyao.
Surprised, Atinyao’s companions escaped.
Responding policemen identified Atinyao.
They said he was notorious for “hulidap,” an arrest that turns into a holdup; hence, the term which is a combination of “huli” for arrest and “dap” for holdup.
Even if it was obviously self-defense, a Prosecutor Catral filed a homicide case against Mark with Amparo as an accomplice.
What kind of justice is this that prosecutes crime victims and protects criminals?

So, it isn’t a surprise then that the Commission on Human Rights is persecuting Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte for the killings of notorious criminals in his city.
Our justice system worries more over the rights of criminals rather than the rights of their victims.
Criminals in Davao City who were executed by vigilantes called the Davao Death Squad—not Duterte Death Squad, mind you—deserved their fate.
The less Atinyaos we have in our midst, the better for our society.

Who was that sexy actress who came to Las Vegas for the Pacquiao-Hatton fight and stayed at the suite reserved for a VIP in this country?
That VIP, who’s in his 60s, and his son, who’s in his 30s, are outdoing each other for the attention of the actress.
Even in business and under-the-table transactions, father and son are rivals.
