MANILA, Philippines ? Hundreds of irked boxing fans ripped up tickets for the free showing of the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton match after they were not allowed into the already jampacked San Andres Sports Complex in Manila on Sunday morning.
Admission was free but organizers closed the gates as early as 7 a.m. after the stadium was filled to its capacity at 8,000.
The organizers claimed that Sunday's event was more organized than the Pacquiao-De La Hoya match. People were not allowed to leave once inside the packed stadium to strictly observe the city government's policy of "first-come, first serve" for the free showing.
