P500,000 stolen
Members of a household lost some P500,000 worth of jewelry and other valuables to a thief who broke into their house in Las Piñas City Thursday night. Police said the break-in was reported at the house of Glen Cipin in Gatchalian Subdivision in Barangay Manuyo Dos. Investigators said Cipin, 51, and other members of his family were on their way home from work when the incident happened. The thief apparently gained entry into the house by destroying the glass window on its left side. He escaped by boarding a waiting motorcycle (PE 1100) driven by another man. Marlon Ramos
Dead inside motel
The body of a dead man was found before dawn Friday inside a room at the Villa Fiesta Lodging House on Rizal Avenue, Sta. Cruz, Manila. Investigators believe an overdose on Chinese herbs killed the victim, identified as Robert Lee, 64. Several wrappers of Chinese-manufactured medicine, believed to be an anti-impotency drug, were found near Lee?s body. Police said Lee had checked in the lodge with a still unidentified woman at around 8:15 p.m. Thursday. Ikebana Professor Serapion S. Metilla will give a lecture-demonstration on various movable plant arts as well as the techniques of care and maintenance for indoor decoration at 3 p.m. today at the Flora Filipina flower and garden show under the auspices of the Philippine Orchid Society. The exhibit area is in front of the Quezon City Hall. After the lecture-demonstration, plants and other garden accessories will be raffled off for free among the participants. The Flora Filipina exhibits, including the commercial sections, will be on show until Feb.16.
