Speaker Prospeo Nograles is in a deep s-- among some of his colleagues in the House of Representatives.
If Legacy Group rural banks does not return the money invested by a number of congressmen and women, Nograles might be ousted from his high position.
When Legacy, closed by the government for engaging in a Ponzi scheme, started going bankrupt, Nograles allegedly got all his money from the beleaguered firm.
According to a congressman who doesn?t want to be identified, he and his colleagues invested millions of pesos on Legacy upon the implicit guarantee of Nograles.
The congressmen and women are now badgering the Speaker to intercede with Legacy owner Celso delos Angeles to return their money.
Nograles has consistently assured them their money would be returned, but he has not set a definite date when.
Some congressmen were told that Nograles was not only an investor of Legacy, he was in fact a partner of Delos Angeles.
This angered the congressmen as they think they?ve been had not only by Delos Angeles but by the Speaker as well.
All hell might soon break loose in the House of Representatives if the congressmen and women who invested in Legacy are not refunded.
Watch for developments in the next few days.

?No wonder,? said a congressman from Mindanao, ?Boy Nogy (Nograles) interceded for Legacy with the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. when PDIC was investigating the firm.?
?But he didn?t intercede for us hard enough so we could get back our money,? said the same congressman.
When people fight for their survival, it?s each to his own.

Some people who know Delos Angeles told me he is known in ?jueteng? circle as ?Boy Seseng? who invested millions of pesos in the illegal numbers game.
Delos Angeles, my sources said, lost all the money he invested as a jueteng financier.
Most of the money he invested in jueteng came from Legacy, the sources said.

Public Works Undersecretary Emmanuel Bonoan says the suspension of the construction firms blacklisted by the World Bank ended Friday, Jan. 30.
One of the firms is E.C. de Luna Construction whose owner, Edward C. de Luna is closely linked with Mike Arroyo, the President?s husband.
Because their suspension has been lifted, they might be allowed to take part in public bidding for public works projects.
When Mike Arroyo tells the Department of Public Works and Highways to lift De Luna?s suspension order, who?s official will say no unless he?s stupid.

When journalists, including this writer, wrote adverse articles about Mr. Arroyo, all the prosecutors who handled the libel complaints filed by the presidential spouse fell all over themselves to please him.
The result was that all the libel complaints were filed in court even if the lawyers for the hapless journalists invoked public interest.
The interest of Mr. Arroyo was more important than public interest.
