P113M Lotto jackpot

It will be a happy Christmas for the lucky fellow who would win tomorrow night’s 6/49 Super Lotto draw as the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office said it expects the jackpot to reach P113 million. In a phone interview, spokesperson Dr. Larry Cedro said they are looking to increased betting sales over the weekend to spur the jackpot higher. “That estimate of P112 million to P113 million is very conservative. We are confident that this weekend’s jackpot will be bigger than what we are expecting,” he told the Inquirer Friday. No one won Thursday night’s jackpot of P102,522,762. The winning combination then was 25-34-46-08-29-47. Julie Aurelio

Pinoy Rodeo at UP Diliman

As part of the centennial anniversary of the UP System, a Pinoy Rodeo will be held today (Nov. 29) at the College of Fine Arts grounds (formerly College of Veterinary Medicine). Expected to participate are student rodeo teams from the Central Luzon State University, De La Salle-Araneta University, Camarines Sur State Agricultural College, and UP Los Baños. An added attraction will be the participation of UPLB alumni rodeo teams. The old cowpokes in the 60’s will see action as they rough it up by way of an exhibition in calf lassoing, casting down cattle, calf wrestling, and four-man carambola. A barn dance will follow the rodeo with live bands to be provided by San Miguel Corp. as one of the sponsors of the affair. The other sponsors are the Office of the Secretary, DA, and Bureau of Agricultural Research, DA.

Cop in slay case hunted

Policemen are hunting down a colleague who allegedly gunned down two men over a misunderstanding in Las Piñas City on Thursday, police said Friday. PO2 Lawton Liangna, assigned at Police Community Precinct 4 of Las Piñas police station, went into hiding after he reportedly shot dead Rhickmhar Ignacio, 25, and his brother Jaymhar, 17. Senior Supt. Amando Clifton Empiso, city police chief, said Liangna shot the victims at close range at the height of a verbal squabble after the cop learned the brothers had filed a complaint against him in relation to an earlier case involving them. Indiscriminate shooting

A 17-year-old boy was hurt when three persons, including two pedicab drivers and a teenager, allegedly fired guns indiscriminately at their colleagues before dawn Friday in Manila. The victim, whose name is withheld because of his age, of Magsaysay Street in Tondo, sustained a bullet wound in the left leg and was brought to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for treatment. His neighbors and suspects Marvin Sabela, 21; Brill Roxas, 23; and a 16-year-old alleged cohort were able to flee after the incident. Reports from the Manila Police District (MPD) Balut, Tondo station 1 revealed that the incident happened at around 1:55 a.m. along Magsaysay Street near the corner of Herbosa Street in Tondo.
