2 men on motorcycle take payroll money

MANILA, Philippines – Two motorcycle-riding men took close to P500,000 in payroll money in broad daylight Friday from two company employees in Taguig City.

Senior Supt. Camilo Cascolan, Taguig police chief, said the suspects took the money from staff members of Zan Fabric after the victims’ car stalled along the East Service Road.

In a followup operation, police arrested a man later identified by one of the victims as one of the suspects, said Cascolan.

The man was identified as Rodello Sangrio. The stolen payroll money was apparently in the hands of the other suspect who eluded arrest, Cascolan said.

The police said the tires of the victims’ vehicle seemed to have been deliberately punctured with a nail.

Cascolan said the robbers could have been tailing the victims from the time they went to the Banco de Oro bank on Chino Roces Avenue.

After withdrawing the money, the employees used the East Service Road to return to the office, Cascolan said.

When the driver sensed he had flat tire, he pulled over to check.

The suspects then stopped alongside the car, Cascolan said, quoting one of the victims.

“The employees thought the men would help them. Instead they took the bag containing the money,” the police officer said.
