MANILA, Philippines ? A businessman was killed while his 5-year-old daughter was slightly injured in a shooting Wednesday night in Quezon City.
Wilson Tayam, 42, a resident of 146 D. Banlat corner Datuin Road in Barangay Tandang Sora, died from several gun shot wounds in the hospital where he was rushed after the incident.
His daughter, Sunshine Mae, is recovering from a wound near her left ear at the East Avenue Medical Center.
Police are looking at the possibility of a business feud as the motive for the shooting.
Case investigator PO2 Rodel Tumangday said the incident happened as Tayam was locking up their store on Tandang Sora Avenue in Barangay Old Balara.
An Initial investigation showed that the Tayams were on board their white Toyota Corolla with plate number UFK 737 waiting for a helper to lock up.
At around 11:08 p.m., a man approached the car, pulled out a 9 mm pistol and shot Tayam and his daughter at close range.
Tumangday said the businessman was hit on the left shoulder. Another bullet entered the left cheek and exited through the right cheek. A bullet grazed Sunshine Mae near the left ear.
The suspect fled on foot after the shooting. Investigators recovered an empty 9 mm shell from the scene.
Tayam was rushed to the New Era Hospital but was declared dead on arrival at 11:47 p.m.
