Father did it, says Bulacan mayor’s son

MANILA, Philippines – A long-standing dispute over property was revived Wednesday night when businessman Ricardo Silverio Jr. alleged his father, San Rafael, Bulacan mayor Ricardo Silverio Sr., and his bodyguards mauled him after he was reportedly thrown out of the family’s Urdaneta Village house in Makati City.

Supt. Manuel Santos of the Criminal Investigation Division said the younger Silverio claimed the assault happened at 7:30 p.m. in the Silverio house at 21 Urdaneta corner Cruzada Streets, Barangay Urdaneta.

Ricardo Jr. accused his father, former owner of Delta Motors that distributed Toyota vehicles, of grave coercion, grave threats and physical injuries.

The police officer, however, said the son had yet to formalize his complaint and present a medico-legal report.

“He still has 15 days to file his formal complaint and present a witness,” Santos said.

An initial investigation indicated that the younger Silverio forced his way into the family house and refused to leave before he was ordered out by his father, who lived in the house with his second wife, Bulacan Rep. Lorna Silverio.

Earlier reports said Ricardo Jr. allegedly sold the Urdaneta house despite opposition from his father. The son claimed the house was owned by his late mother.
