A bronze statue of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. was installed beside the People Power Monument on Edsa in February 2005. The statue was cast in Rome in 1983 by Filipino sculptor Tomas Concepcion. It was first brought to the US, then to the Philippines in 1984.
Businessman Jose Antonio Gonzalez installed the statue in a Makati building and later donated it to the city of Manila. In 2004, the city government donated the statue to the Spirit of Edsa Foundation, which decided to place it beside the Edsa monument.
