Evacuation
In Taguig City, 166 families were evacuated from areas that went under due to waist-high floodwaters.
Taguig City Mayor Freddie Tiñga immediately ordered the city?s Disaster Management Council to oversee the evacuation process and to monitor flooded areas.
A total of 81 families on M. L. Quezon, Pagkalinawan and A. Reyes Streets in Barangay Lower Bicutan were moved to the R.P. Cruz Elementary School.
In Barangay Maharlika, some 50 families were evacuated from Purok 3 to the Green Mosque.
Taguig public information officer Ana Santos said 12 other families were transferred to the Napindan Elementary School from their homes on Labao Street in Barangay Napindan.
Around 15 families were also rescued from flooded areas in Barangay Ibayo Tipas and were given temporary shelter at the Tipas Elementary School Annex while another 15 families from the Romantic Village in Barangay Sta. Ana were brought to the Sta. Ana Elementary School.
Four trucks were fielded by the National Disaster Coordinating Office and the Philippine Army to help evacuate the affected residents, according to Jesus Merilo of the Public Order and Safety Office.
The City Health Office reported no casualties or injuries as the Office of Social Welfare and Development started distributing relief goods to the affected families.
Las Piñas City Mayor Vergel Aguilar, meanwhile, ordered the deployment of 50 men to declog the city?s waterways after Typhoon Frank caused the Zapote River to swell over the weekend.
Aguilar instructed personnel from the engineering and maintenance department to clear creeks, drainage systems and other waterways of garbage and other obstructions.
?Garbage is often a contributing factor especially when it clogs waterways and causes flooding,? Aguilar said through his spokesperson, Jimmy Castillano.
Castillano said eight out of the 20 barangays in the city were inundated in knee-deep floodwaters as Frank battered Metro Manila over the weekend although by Monday morning, the water had started to recede.
