MANILA, Philippines – Barely five hours after a newborn baby girl was allegedly thrown out of the window of a condominium unit in Binondo, Manila, Tuesday morning, another newborn baby girl was seriously injured after she was allegedly dropped from a taxi cab by her teenage mother in Paco.
The baby’s 15-year-old mother, a resident of Raymundo Street in San Andres Bukid, is facing frustrated infanticide charges, police said.
An investigation showed that the incident happened at around 4 p.m. at the corner of Pedro Gil and Onyx Streets in Paco.
The suspect was reportedly on board a taxi, along with two other relatives, when she suddenly threw her baby out of the window.
Cristine Quiñones, a store owner, said she saw the baby falling from a passing taxi. She immediately took it to a nearby lying-in clinic.
Paz Irene Diaz, a midwife supervisor at a lying-in clinic in Paco, said the baby seemed all right except for some bruises in the body.
From the clinic, Diaz turned the baby over to the Ospital ng Maynila and reported the incident to the social welfare department.
