MANILA, Philippines – The voice of Ramon Geromo on the other end of the line, calling from his hometown in Roxas City, speaks volumes about the pain brought about by diabetes and other complications of the kidney and heart.
The 49-year-old father and his family used to share a house with his sister, who has a family of her own, on Sta. Bernardita Street, Tondo in Manila.
Although he lives in Roxas City, he has to report to the Philippine General Hospital on Taft Avenue, Manila, every four months to monitor by ultrasound the condition of his chronic kidney disease (stage three) secondary to diabetes mellitus nephropathy.
“I have been suffering for 11 years, and my wife and three children have suffered with me,” said Geromo, a former watchman in a bank in Ermita, Manila.
He resigned three years ago because of a series of diabetic attacks.
Geromo said he has already run out of the five kinds of medicines he is taking and it has taken its toll on his general well-being.
“I am looking for people who can help me pay for my medical needs so I may be able to work again. I hope I will be able to get help soon,” he said.
Geromo can be contacted at telephone nunbers 0910-6117289 and 233-1075. Financial help can be deposited to his account number 2006115228 at the Philippine National Bank PGH branch.
