Sanrio and Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila are teaming up with Learning to give families with kids 5 to 12 years old a big come-on to read ?José-Fly Reporter? together and make paper bugs out of old newspapers.
For our Paper Bugs Contest, we want families to create an origami version of any insect represented in our featured story. Free origami instructions are available on the Internet.
Submit your entries to us and you may be one of the three lucky families to win Hello Kitty sets of products from Sanrio, P7,000 worth for the 1st Prize, P5,000 worth for the 2nd Prize and P3,000 worth for the 3rd Prize.
The 1st Prize winner will receive a gift certificate for an overnight stay for four people with complimentary breakfast from Sofitel.
Here are the rules:
1. This contest is open to all families with children 5-12 years old residing in the Philippines.
2. Each folded-paper bug entry must be made mostly of newspaper (at least two-thirds). You may use crayons, watercolor, markers, paint and other craft material to enhance details.
3. The maximum size for each entry is 12 inches long x 12 inches wide x 12 inches depth.
4. A family can submit up to three entries but can only win one prize.
5. Each entry must have a title or name. It must include a label containing the names of the family members, landline and mobile phone numbers and address.
6. All entries must be submitted to the Paper Bug Contest c/o Learning Section, Philippine Daily Inquirer, 3/F PDI Building, Pasong Tamo corner Yague and Mascardo Streets, Makati City.
7. Deadline for submission of entries is on Oct. 30, 2009.
8. Winners will be notified by mail or e-mail and/or by phone and their names will be published with their entries in the Learning section.
