STUDENTS WHO DO NOT pass the CAT at major universities may not retake the test.
This is the policy at the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, De la Salle University, Far Eastern University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of Asia and the Pacific, University of San Carlos, University of Santo Tomas and the University of the East.
However, students who fail the CAT may be considered for admission into some of the aforementioned universities depending on their exam scores, high school grades and the available slots for their course of choice.
A student may submit an appeal for reconsideration to the admission offices of said universities.
In a few rare cases, a student may take the CAT again after a year, but must not enroll in another university while waiting for the next CAT so as to retain his/her incoming freshman status.
Students may also enroll in another university then re-apply after a year at their first school of choice as transferees. But they will have to comply with a new set of requirements, such as a specific number of units taken, grades, and/or qualifying exams for the course of choice. --Inquirer Research
