Enrile nixes proposed change in rules of procedure at corona impeach trial

Kenyan ‘drug mule’ convicted, draws life term

A Kenyan woman has been convicted of drug smuggling by a Lapu-Lapu City court and sentenced to life in prison. Judge Toribio Quiwag, of the Lapu-Lapu regional trial ccourt Branch 27, ordered Asha Atieno Oguto, 25, jailed for life for attempting to smuggle at least 3 kilograms of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) on Sept. 29, 2011.

A historical accident happened in Baguio City, which a Maryknoll nun describes as part of “how God works.” Three years after the Maryknoll Sisters arrived in the Philippines in 1926 to establish what was then called Catholic Teachers’ Normal School, they came to Baguio and eventually built a convent on a 2.8-hectare lot atop a hill in Barangay Campo Sioco.

Corona given ‘special discount’ for condo purchase, prosecution says

Defense welcomes evidence on Corona’s condo

A spokesman for the defense said Tuesday that they welcomed the senator-judges’ move to get hold of engineers’ reports and insurance claims on Chief Justice Renato Corona’s Bellagio unit in order to shed light on the reasons for the reduction given to Corona as disclosed by a witness at the resumption of the impeachment trial on the same day.
