Turn stress into strength

WE ALL feel and experience stress. Feelings of stress are triggered by our natural survival mechanism. Though few of us will encounter sabertoothed tigers in our daily routine, many of us are stressed as our caveman ancestors when we are doing battles with the paper tigers of the modern workplace. Much of our stress has to do with a mismatch between expectations and reality.

Six-pack midsection

•Do zip up your abs all day long. Whenever you get a free moment, look down. Are you allowing your abs to pooch outward? Pull them in, Imagine that you’re zipping up a corset starting at your pelvic bone. As you zip it up, your tummy pulls in and up. The more often you zip up your abs, the less often you’ll need to remind yourself to do so.

Six-pack midsection (First of two parts)

DURING my 20s and my competitive years as an athlete, I often show off my light abs to my friends, asking them to feel my tummy. Back then people used to snicker: “Wait until you reach your mid 50s, then we’ll see how flat it is.” Well, I no longer compete in my weightlifting sports but guess what? I still have a flat tummy. I’m a living proof that any person can whip his/her abdominal area into shape. Now that I am in my senior years, I still ask people to feel my tummy. It seems that no matter where I go, people who know me tell me that I look the same, only the hair is no longer as thick as before. I can tell you, keeping my abs flat and firm in my sixties is not as simple as it was during in my twenties. Thirty years ago, I could occasionally slack off on my abdominal routine sometimes for as long as two weeks and not notice a difference.

Migraines

The conventional approach to the treatment of migraine (or any headache, for that matter) is typical of most modern medical therapies: Treat the symptoms. In this case, physicians find that headache pain is most responsive to medication. Aspirin and other over-the-counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen are usually suggested and do offer some mild temporary pain relief.

Being physically active: A natural medicine

LACK of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and physical exercise save it and preserve it. In my own point of view, it’s generally understood that exercise is crucial for maintaining good health.

Physical activity movement

WHEN was the last time you went out to play? A lot of people find this question to be a little ridiculous, but I do think it is worth pondering. When we were kids we run, jump, climb and scramble effortlessly and joyously and pretty much all the time. Who among us doesn’t remember how alive we felt when we played hide and seek, racing each other in the playground, wrestling each other or ran all-out until we feel into the grass, gasping for air?
