MANILA, Philippines?The damage caused by Tropical Storm "Ondoy" on agriculture in Luzon and Mindanao's Zamboanga del Sur province has reached P 5.4 billion, according to the latest report from the Department of Agriculture.
The rice sector suffered the heaviest loss at P4.2 billion, followed by irrigation facilities at P818.6 million.
Production losses for other commodities consist of the following: fisheries P128 million; high-value commercial crops P127 million; corn P64 million; and livestock and poultry P41 million.
Damaged farm facilities were valued at P1.3 million in the livestock and poultry sector and P189,000 in the fisheries sector.
