MAGSAYSAY, Davao del Sur, Philippines?A 14-year-old girl was hurt when a coconut tree, toppled by strong winds, fell on their house in the village of Poblacion here around 5:45 p.m. Friday, officials said.

Judy Ann Dianan was rushed to the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital in Digos City due to her injuries, Mayor Jess Lumanog on Saturday said.

Lumanog said the victim's house was among those destroyed when strong winds hit the village during a heavy downpour.

He said heavy rains also triggered flashfloods that damaged crops due for harvest this month. More than 20 families were displaced, he added.

Inspector Editho Mandi, Magsaysay police chief, said residents also reported the occurrence of waterspouts that topped two electric posts.

Mandi said some parts of the town still had no power Friday afternoon.
