GAZA CITY—Main events in the Gaza Strip conflict over the past 24 hours:
• The UN Security Council votes to call for an "immediate, durable" ceasefire leading to a "full withdrawal" of Israeli forces, but the United States abstains. Hamas rejects the resolution, and Israel says its offensive will continue.
• Israel carries on with heavy attacks in Gaza. It stages more than 50 air strikes which Palestinian emergency services say killed at least 12 civilians. Six were members of a single family.
• Hamas and its allies fire at least 15 rockets into southern Israel, wounding one person, the military says. At least Four Grad rockets hit Beersheva, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Gaza.
• German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier says he is travelling to the region for talks on ending the bloodshed.
• The International Committee of the Red Cross says it is temporarily restricting its operations in most of the Gaza Strip after one of its vehicles was hit, apparently by Israeli forces. Red Cross operations will continue only in Gaza City.
• The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs cites witnesses saying Israeli forces moved about 110 Palestinians into a house, told them to stay inside, and later shelled it repeatedly, killing about 30 people. The Israeli army says it had no knowledge of such an incident but is investigating.
• The Israeli military says three of its soldiers died in combat on Thursday, taking the toll among its armed forces to 10 since the start of the offensive on December 27. The estimated Palestinian death toll to date stands at almost 800.
• Thousands of police officers are deployed in occupied east Jerusalem after Hamas calls for a new "day of wrath" over the Gaza offensive.
