TOKYO -- A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of northern Japan on Tuesday, the country's meteorological agency said.
There was no risk of a tsunami, the agency said, and there were no immediate reports of any damage.
The tremor struck at 8:53 pm (2353 GMT Monday), with the epicenter in the Pacific Ocean off Fukushima prefecture, the agency said.
The quake struck about 10 kilometers below sea level, according to the agency.
