MANILA, Philippines -- A 43-year-old seaman hanged himself in the living room of his Quezon City house after reportedly losing an argument with his wife over her desire to work abroad, police said.
Jonathan Yutuc, of Block 6 Lot 38 Daffodil Street, Bloomsfield Subdivision in Barangay (villag) Pasong Putik, was declared dead on arrival at the Far Eastern University Hospital, a report prepared by the QC Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said.
It said housemaid Jasmin Sagun found Yutuc suspended from a concrete beam with an electrical cord around his neck at around 11:45 a.m. and notified the seaman’s wife Luzviminda. Both women took him down and rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the report said.
The report said that before Yutuc hanged himself, he had a heated discussion with his wife as he refused to allow her to work overseas.
