Vietnamese new year road accidents kill 216

HA NOI -- Two hundred and sixteen people died and 336 others were injured in traffic accidents during the five days of the Vietnamese Tet lunar new year holidays.

According to the Ministry of Security’s Department of Road and Railway Traffic Police, from February 6 to 10 there were 315 traffic accidents across the nation, claiming 216 lives.

But it noted that traffic accident fell by 29.1 percent, with deaths down by 30.8 percent and injuries down 33.2 percent, compared to the same same period last year.

Two serious road traffic accidents claimed the lives of six people and injured five others in Thai Nguyen and Ha Tay provinces. Viet Nam News-ANN
