MANILA, Philippines – A suspected Abu Sayyaf leader was killed in a military operation in Basilan Thursday, a military official said Friday.
Western Mindanao Command Chief Major General Ben Dolorfino said Abdulla Ajijul alias Abu Termijie was killed during a “special intelligence operation” in Sitio Baquisong, Barangay Cambug, Basilan at around 11:300 a.m.
Military operatives recovered an M653 rifle with scope and a two-way radio from the suspect, Dolorfino said.
Ajijul, the military official said, was an alleged Abu Sayyaf Urban Terrorist leader operating in Zamboanga and was allegedly behind the kidnapping and bombing incidents in the province.
A P3.3 million reward was put on Ajijul’s head. He also had a pending arrest warrant for kidnapping and serious illegal detention filed at the National Capital Region – Regional Trial Court, Dolorfino said.
