BALO-I, Lanao Del Norte, Philippines — Unidentified armed men toppled yet another tower here Wednesday dawn and plunged several Lanao Del Norte areas into darkness.
Emmanuel Abellanosa, vice president for operation of the state-run National Grid Corp., said the armed men strapped four explosive devices onto the base of tower no. 12 here and set it off.
"We are facing a blank wall on about these attacks on the pylons," Trinidad said.
Asked if extortion could be involved, he said the NGCP has not received any demand yet.
Since October alone, at least seven NGCP towers had already been bombed in Lanao Del Norte.
Eric Cariaga, NGCP manager for Lanao district, said each toppled tower costs at least P5 million to repair.
