MANILA, Philippines—A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Mindanao island Tuesday morning, the US Geological Survey said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The inland quake struck at 8:05 a.m. about 65 kilometers north northwest of General Santos City at a depth of 35 kilometers.
On Monday, a magnitude 5 tremor struck 85 kilometers south southeast of Hinatuan town in Surigao del Sur.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
