MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics operatives arrested alleged top drug personalities in the Cordillera region in a series of operations last week, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency announced on Friday.
Arrested last Tuesday was Teodulo Villareal, listed as the most wanted person in the region, said PDEA Director General Dionisio Santiago.
Villareal was arrested by joint elements of PDEA and the police Highway Patrol Group in Baguio City.
He was tagged as the operator of a drug den in the region and a member of a local drug group operating on a national scale, Santiago said.
Villareal’s wife was earlier arrested and seized from her possession were several grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, marijuana, and several drug paraphernalia, as well as firearms.
Both will be charged for Possession of Dangerous Drugs (Section 11, Article II) under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, authorities also arrested Brenda Singson and Jordan Luther Managdag also in Baguio City last August 21, Santiago said.
Singson was the so-called “Shabu Queen” of Baguio City and has been tagged as number four in the Top Drug Personalities in the city.
Managdag, meanwhile, is included in the regional watch list of drug personalities and was allegedly part of the Bambi Drug Group operating in the region.
On August 19, 2009, authorities also arrested Willy Borce and Gloria del Mundo, both said to be members of a local drug group in the region.
The two were arrested based on a warrant issued by Judge Edilberto Claravall of Regional Trial Court Branch 60.
A search in their home led to the discovery of several sachets of shabu, 189 grams of marijuana, ketamine contained in a large plastic bottle, assorted drug paraphernalia and live ammunition for caliber .45 pistol.
