ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines—The Western Mindanao Command announced on Thursday the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of several firearms from the suspected hideout of an alleged Abu Sayyaf member and arms dealer in downtown Jolo, Sulu.

First Lieutenant Esteffani Cacho, spokesman of the Westmincom, said the safehouse on Raymundo St. was raided at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Cacho did not identify the arrested suspect or release other details.

The Abu Sayyaf is believed responsible for a string of kidnappings in Mindanao. Police and military are checking whether they are involved in the bombings that happened lately in the south.
