TAGUM CITY -- Police authorities here on Friday announced the arrest of a man, who was among a group of drug suspects that ambushed a raiding government team last year.
Abiden Biay Miranda, the number 8 most wanted person in the city, yielded to police during an operation at the wharf in Madaum village here Thrusday, Superintendent Giusseppe Geralde, city police chief, said.
Geralde said the 36-year old Miranda was a member of a drug syndicate operating in the city, whose members waylaid police operatives and village volunteers doing surveillance operations in the village last December.
Three people died in the incident, including Bincungan village chief Israel Maug and George Bajura, a member of the Civilian Security Unit.
Superintendent Dario Gunabe, Davao del Norte police intelligence chief, said Miranda who was facing murder and drug charges, carries a “substantial bounty on his head.”
