The weather may have improved in Central Visayas but airport and Coast Guard authorities were not taking chances as typhoon Feria still held sway over several parts of the country yesterday.
Two flights at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIAA) heading to Caticlan were suspended yesterday morning due to bad weather, while the Coast Guard held off all trips heading to Manila.
Elsewhere two of four fishermen who went missing in Camotes island were rescued by residents in barangay Calmante, Tudela town.
Barangay Captain Ignacio Labayan Jr. identified the fishers as 13-year-old Eric Avila and 28-year-old Junel Rica, both residents of Looc Danao City.
Labayan said they were rescued by residents after they lost fuel for their banca and were carried off by strong waves and winds first to Bohol, then to Tudela town.
In Bogo town, a fisherman named Wilmo Cantilan of barangay Pulangbato went missing off the waters of Isabel Leyte.
Meanwhile the MCIA operations department said PAL flight PR 258 from Caticlan to Cebu at 12 was suspended, while Cebu Pacific flight 5J 136 for Caticlan was also suspended.
Anelito Gabisan, Coast Guard District Central Eastern Visayas chief of staff, said they already lifted the suspension of trips going to Bohol and Southern Leyte yesterday morning and cleared trips to northern Cebu and Eastern Visayas.
He said they barred vessels from heading to Manila which is still placed under storm signal number 2.
In Sta. Fe, Bantayan town, a 69-year-old man was injured after being hit by a fallen coconut tree last Tuesday evening.
The Cebu Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (CPDCC) identified the man as Domingo Ilustrisimo of barangay Maricaban, Sta. Fe town in Bantayan Island.
He was inside his home when the incident occurred.
In Daanbantayan town, Mayor Sun Shimura said typhoon Feria uprooted some trees in the town.
The Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC) said local officials in Asturias and San Francisco towns ordered the suspension of classes to protect the students.
In Cebu City, about 100 families of barangay Sawang Calero and 40 households of barangay Ermita were relocated to sports centers in their areas due to floodings.
