DAVAO CITY, Philippines -- Two of three militants missing in Compostela Valley have been found in a jail in Leyte, a human rights group said Friday.
Relatives and officials of the human rights group Karapatan were reunited with Ruel Cabales and Catherine Cacdac on April 1 in a jail in the town of Palo, Leyte, Karapatan spokesman Kelly Delgado said here.
The military had repeatedly denied arresting the alleged New People’s Army rebels but Cabales and Cacdac said they, along with comrade Nelson Carbajosa, were taken by army soldiers on January 26, according to Delagado. They were brought to the 10th Infantry Division headquarters here where they stayed for a week before being brought to Leyte.
Carbajosa remains missing to this day.
