CEBU CITY, Philippines -- Bad weather forced two flights of Cebu Pacific Air to divert to the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Saturday morning.
Samuel Elle, MCIA domestic operations manager, said Cebu Pacific flight 5J 348 from Davao to Iloilo was diverted to MCIA at 7:48 a.m., but it was later cleared to depart for Iloilo at 9:56 a.m.
Cebu Pacific flight 5J 617 from Manila to Tagbilaran was diverted at 9:34 a.m., but it was later allowed to proceed to Tagbilaran at 12:22 p.m.
Elle said the two planes were diverted to Mactan because of bad weather.
However, all the flights to and from the MCIA remained normal, he said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in Mactan said the bad weather was caused by a low-pressure area 70 kilometers east northeast of Tagbilaran City.
