SORSOGON CITY, Philippines—A Chinese national died from drowning in a beach resort in Sta. Magdalena town Tuesday morning, according to a report of the Sorsogon Provincial Police Office here.

The report identified the victim as Si Chiang Shi, 22, a resident of Fujian province in China, who was temporarily staying in Bulan town.

Witness Vivencio Chua told the police that the victim was swimming in Balading beach resort in Sta. Magdalena town when he drowned.

Chua and his companions immediately called for help and brought Si to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police said Si’s body was still at the funeral parlor in Matnog town while they were contacting the Chinese Embassy.
