MANILA, Philippines--A low-pressure area was spotted off Southern Mindanao with the tail-end of a cold front affecting Central and Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.
The state weather bureau said the low pressure area was spotted at around 2 pm at 150 kilometers southeast of General Santos City embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao and Palawan.
"Central and Northern Luzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers becoming widespread rains over the eastern sections of Central and Northern Luzon, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," PAGASA said in its 5pm bulletin.
It said that Mindanao and Palawan would have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
"The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," PAGASA said.
"Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Central and Northern Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms," it added.
