PILI, Camarines Sur, Philippines—Police discovered marijuana plants tucked between vegetable patches at the foot of Mt. Isarog in the village of Curry in Pili town Monday morning, police disclosed Wednesday morning.
Senior Police Officer 4 Pedro Corporal, team leader of the raiding group, said the landowner, Noel Maravilla, 43, initially denied ownership of the vegetable farm located about 12 kilometers away from the town center.
The team seized 10 full-grown plants and several newly-planted seedlings of marijuana hidden among tomatoes, pechay, okra and other vegetables grown in the one-hectare farm.
Corporal said that after weeks of surveillance in the area, they were able to swoop on the farm with help from the village watchmen and the village chief.
While in custody of the police, Maravilla alleged that it was a certain Jesse Almojano who planted the marijuana plants. Almojano, however, is still at large.
