CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Traffic along the Metro Manila-bound lanes of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) stopped for more than an hour on Monday afternoon after a 10-wheel truck fell on its side and occupied two lanes on Kilometer 39 in Sta. Rita, Bulacan, according to a report from the Tollways Management Corp. (TMC).
The TMC, operator of the 84-kilometer NLEx, said the accident happened at 3:21 p.m.
As of 4:20 p.m., a TMC team was still trying to remove the truck from that section, the report said.
The MTC plans to allow motorists to counter flow so that they could exit to a northbound lane that would be used as an alternative lane toward Metro Manila in the meantime.
It was raining in the area when the accident happened. The MTC is still investigating the cause of the accident.
