MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE) Tropical depression “Lawin” weakened to a low pressure area Thursday afternoon, after crossing into waters off the extreme northeast, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
At 4 p.m., the storm was located 200 kilometers southwest of Basco town, Batanes province, the weather bureau said on its website.
However, a shallow low pressure area or brewing storm was spotted 210 kilometers northwest of Iba town, Zambales province, PAGASA said.
