ROXAS CITY, Philippines—Slain Radio Mindanao Network-DyVR anchorman Martin D. Roxas will be buried Sunday in his hometown, Maayon town in Capiz.

DyVR station manager Eliezer Abarra Friday announced there would be a necrological service in honor of Roxas to be held at the Maayon Civic Center at 8 a.m. before the interment at the Maayon Cemetery.

On Wednesday last week, about 300 relatives, political officials and friends joined the family of Roxas in a motor caravan to bring the slain broadcaster to his hometown. His remains were then brought to the Maayon Civic Center for the wake.

Roxas, 32, is survived by his wife Hayna and two children, aged three and one.

Roxas City Prosecutor Erwin Ignacio has meanwhile formed a special panel of prosecutors to conduct inquest investigation into the killing of Roxas.

The two suspects in Roxas' death—Joenel Lastimoso, 27, of the village of Cagay, Roxas City and Kristian Tan, 25, of the village of Quivedo Maayon, Capiz—were charged with murder Friday last week before the Regional Trial Court(RTC) here.

The special panel is headed by second assistant prosecutor Salvador Dellota with 3rd assistant prosecutor Chuchi Asis-Ramos and fourth assistant prosecutor James Advincula as members.

Roxas, who anchored dyVR's noon program "Targetanay sa Udto," was about 200 meters from the radio station and was on his way home on board his motorcycle on August 7 when he was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding men along Bayot Drive here.

An eyewitness surfaced last week and positively identified Lastimoso and Tan as the assailants of Roxas, the first journalist killed in Capiz.

Chief Superintendent Isagani Cuevas, Regional Police Office 6 director, said they have a strong case against Lastimoso and Tan as the suspects were also identified by witnesses as the ones who mauled Roxas at Hemingway Street, a week before he was killed.

Police investigators were still trying to find out what caused the mauling incident but sources, who asked not be named because they have no authority to reveal information on the ongoing investigation, said the two suspects reportedly went after the radioman for tipping off the police on the latter's alleged drug activities.

The death of Roxas received condemnation from several sectors of the community, including from elected officials here, who believed the murder was meant to silence a media man who was just doing his job.
