MANILA, Philippines -- Expect more rains in Luzon, as tropical storm “Julian” is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon even after leaving the country, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tuesday.
At 10 a.m., the eye of the storm, which packs maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour was spotted 550 kilometers northwest of Laoag City, over the South China Sea, PAGASA said in a bulletin.
The state-run weather bureau also said that it has lowered all public storm warning signals.
"However, 'Julian' will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring rains over Luzon especially on the western section," PAGASA said.
Moving northwest at 11 kilometers per hour, the storm was forecast to be 770 kilometers northwest of Laoag City or off Southern China by Wednesday morning.
