MANILA, Philippines -- The damage wrought by typhoon "Helen," (international codename: Kalmaegi) to property in northern Luzon reached P7,004,966.80, the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said Friday.

The storm also left two people killed, one injured, and 31,129 people in 146 villages in 14 municipalities in the Ilocos and Cagayan Valley regions affected by floods, the NDCC said.

“Helen” left P3,800,000 in damages to the Manila North Road-Ilocos Norte roadway, and P1,871,500 to roads and bridges in the Ilocos Region, it said.

Destruction to agriculture was placed at P963,966.80 in Ilocos Norte province, and P324,500 in Ilocos Sur, it said.

In Sta. Teresita town in Cagayan province, P45,000 worth of livestock was destroyed.

There were no reported damages to power and communication lines.

"Helen" is the eighth weather disturbance to hit the country this year. It left on Friday and slammed into Taiwan, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration.
