SAN PABLO CITY, Philippines -- Typhoon ‘Frank’ (international codename: Fengshen) has put a damper on the celebration of the annual feast of St. John the Baptist in a village here named in his honor.

Residents of the village of Bautista on Tuesday failed to hold their usual festivities honoring their patron saint because electricity had yet to be restored in their village and in parts of seven towns in Laguna since Frank struck Saturday night.

Aside from Bautista, the other villages in this city still without power include San Miguel, San Bartolome, Santiago Uno, Santiago Dos, parts of San Gabriel, said Vic Zeta, security officer on night duty of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), Sta. Cruz Branch.

The other areas which remained without electricity included El Rey Subdivision in the village of Duhat in Sta. Cruz town, some portions of Nagcarlan town, portions of Pila and Victoria municipalities, Zeta told the Inquirer.

In Eastern Laguna (Baybay Area), the areas still experiencing a blackout are the town of Sta. Maria, some parts of Pangil town, some parts of Mabitac, including the village of San Antonio, according to security officer Agustin Buno on night duty of the First Laguna Electric Cooperative (Fleco) substation.
