MANILA, Philippines -- Regional wage boards in two regions in the Visayas and Mindanao have approved an increase from P7 to P20 in the daily take home pay of workers, the National Wages and Productivity Commission announced Friday.
In Central Visayas, the wage board approved a P17 increase in the minimum daily pay of private sector workers. Non-agriculture employees will then receive between P222 to P267 while those in the agriculture sector will get between P222 to P249.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board of Socsargen, meanwhile, granted a P7 to P10.50 wage increase and an additional P3 to P5 in daily cost of living allowance (COLA).
This means daily wage for non-agriculture employees in the Mindanao region will be P245. Agriculture sector workers will get between P220 to P225 while those in the retail and services sector will receive P219. The rates are inclusive of the P3 to P5 daily COLA.
In Western Visayas, sugar-plantation workers will receive from P208 to P250 in daily wage. Employees in the non-agriculture and in the retail and service sector will get P250 daily pay while those in the agriculture industry (non-sugar) will receive P118. All new rates are inclusive of the P15 ERA.
Earlier, wage boards of the National Capital Region, Regions II, III, IV-A, IV-B, VII, X, and XI released new wage adjustments orders. Still pending are wage orders in Regions I, V, IX, XIII, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.
