ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines -- A twister demolished a still undetermined number of houses in Tanjung and Buanza villages in Indanan town, Sulu at 4 p.m. Friday.

Hadja Jainab Abdulmajib, provincial disaster official, said the phenomenon occurred amid heavy rains.

No casualty was reported.

"We heard that several houses were destroyed but I don’t have the figures, we are addressing the situation," she said.

Professor Octavio Dinampo, a resident of Tanjung said strong winds brought by the twister ripped off his roof and those of his neighbors.

"My roof was thrown about 100 meters away," he said.
