MANILA, Philippines -- A magnitude 5.3 earthquake shook the northern province of Isabela Tuesday night, the US Geological Survey said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
The quake, which was located 90 kilometers south-southeast of Ilagan City, struck at 10:14 p.m. (1414 GMT) at a depth of 65.9 kilometers.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a zone where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
